Rinicom Intelligent Solutions (RIS) support in strengthening London Heathrow Airport’s counter-drone security

RIS is thrilled to report its most recent success in supporting Operational Solutions Ltd (OSL) with their ongoing contract with Heathrow airport. OSL has been providing the airport with an integrated set of anti-drone systems from key global suppliers since January 2020 and are now including our RIS counter-drone (C-UAS) products to enhance the solution and keep Heathrow’s security ahead of the curve.
This addition is part of the airport’s end-to-end counter drone measures in keeping the country’s busiest airfield free from drones. The fast and accurate detection of rogue drones helps to keep Heathrow’s passengers and colleagues safe and will support the airport, law enforcement and air traffic controllers as they work to protect Heathrow’s airspace.
Jonathan Coen, Director of Security at Heathrow said: “We’re investing in this new cutting-edge technology which will enhance our capabilities in the detection and deterrence of drones in and around our airfield. We’re delighted to have this unique system keeping our skies safe and helping passengers and cargo to get to their destinations on time”.
The technology will also help the airport to meet its sustainability objectives, by reducing the fuel wastage and additional flight stacking caused by unauthorised drones use.

RIS will continue to work with OSL to strengthen Heathrow Airport’s security against the shifting demand for C-UAS defence. The company continues to collect and collate data sets to advance its products and are already developing AI for future projects at Heathrow.
