Updated: Sep 23, 2021

Rinicom Intelligent Solutions (RIS) demo optical systems to Westminster Group, its ambassadors and distinguished guests

22nd September 2021 - Lancaster, UK.

Earlier this month RIS had the admirable opportunity to showcase its SkyPatriot and Sector30 C-UAS systems at the celebrations for Westminster Group PLC (WSG) as it was awarded the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise, an award the SkyPatriot itself attained in 2018.

On 3rd September WSG hosted the event at their Headquarters in Banbury to celebrate their outstanding contribution to international trade, highlighting its performance within the global security sector, providing complex security solutions to a variety of clients and infrastructures.

Guests at the event included ambassadors, high commissioners, embassy staff and government representatives from countries around the world as well as WSG customers, partners, and shareholders. Technology demonstrations were held in various locations around the site including border protection solutions, anti-terrorist systems, narcotics and contraband detection, x-ray screening, counter surveillance and vehicle control. There was also an exciting new development in rapid COVID-19 testing on display.

The Queen’s Award for Enterprise is a worldwide recognised stamp for outstanding achievement in the UK and was presented by Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, Sir Tim Stevenson KCVO OBE, who spoke about Westminster Group’s performance as “Extraordinarily impressive.”

Pictured, Sam Lowe, Business Development Manager for RIS saidWhat a fantastic day celebrating the success of this global enterprise who like us, pride itself on both performance and excellence. We always welcome opportunities to work with and alongside forerunning organisations like Westminster Group and are proud to have represented them on their award day, by showcasing our SkyPatriot and its capacity to detect, locate and track Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), enabling these threats to be neutralised.”

The demonstrated SkyPatriot was created to help combat air traffic disruption and safety hazards caused by the unauthorised use of drones. The wide proliferation of commercial UAVs has led to numerous reports of air traffic disruption, smuggling of illicit substances, illegal collection of video footage and disturbance of high-profile mass events. It is a worldwide problem, affecting different sectors of society, and causing significant financial loss.

Commenting on the event, Westminster’s CEO, Peter Fowler, said: “To be selected for the award is a great honour for Westminster and we received the award on behalf of all our staff around the world whose hard work, professionalism and dedication are the reasons for our success. I was also pleased to be able to showcase a number of the interesting and advanced security solutions we deploy around the world, and I am grateful to all our suppliers who supported the event.”

Thank you to Westminster Group for allowing us to represent SkyPatriot, and congratulations to them on winning the Queen’s Award for Enterprise.
